Born Femi Odukoya, Dark Poet has always been a music lover but the very first time he heard hip-hop in the early 90′s, he knew he wanted “in”. After scribbling together his first lines,he decided to perform in public. In 2004, he started out as what hip-hop head’s know as a battle rapper and won a couple of competitions including unilag’s finest 2007(which was his last appearance as a battle-rapper). He proceeded to work on a debut album titled “Celebrity Status” after meeting producers like SOSSICK of classic-tunes,JIFF(london based),DJKLEM of knighthouse ,j-sleek of hypertek,and a host of others,Just in case you forgot, he was featured on Gino’s album, “Lagos”, Jimmy Jatt’s Mixtape “Rude boy” and on Dagrin‘s “Make Doe” track.
PENDING the RELEASE of his debut album! DARK POET (@darkpoet_) teamed up with VERSATILE producer DHECADE (@dhecade) and he’s worked with [late] DAGRIN,CAPB,ICEBERG SLIM,TEETO,PHATBONE,FULSTOP,BEE,MIXBREED…to name a few, They put together a 13TRACK “Hiphop” MIXTAPE called “THE UNMIXED MIXTAPE” which was released to the general public on the 8TH OF JUNE (dark poet’s birthday) and the best part of all this is the price!! yup! it’s FREE!!
