Originally from Lagos, Nigeria, Temi Kolarinwa first fell in love with hiphop in the early 90s when the images of american rappers like Snoop Doggy Dog and Warren G were first beamed across African TV screens. Emigrating to Toronto in 2001, he shelved his hiphop aspirations to further his studies under the auspicies of his dad. However, the explosion of the internet and social media has reignited his love for music and strengthened his belief that there is room for educated black males in the rap game.
On This Track “Las Gidi”, Temi has teamed up with fellow Torontonian, O’shakes of the MirrorMan Collective .With the beautifully chopped up sample as a backdrop for Temi’s lyrics, they deliver a fresh sound that heads from Lagos – Toronto (and all cities in between) would be proud to bump.
Enjoy.
